This self catering holiday cottage is on the shore of Loch Indaal at the edge of Bowmore. Within easy walking distance of Bowmore shops, distillery, restaurants and swimming pool, the cottage makes a perfect base to explore the beautiful Isle of Islay and enjoy its scenery, wildlife and whisky.

The large picture window in the sitting room offers views over the loch to Bruicladdich. Through the side window can be seen the Paps of Jura. Many species of birds, the occasional seal and, very rarely, otters can all be seen from a comfortable chair.
Between October and March, Islay is home to about 35,000 Barnacle Geese and the sight of large skeins returning to roost at the head of the loch each evening is spectacular. Seals and red deer are quite easy to find elsewhere on Islay.

Most of the distilleries on Islay run tours and tastings. Sea and flyfishing are both readily available.

Taobh-na-Mara was originaly a stone fisherman's cottage which has been renovated and extended.
Accomodation comprises one double and one twin bedded room. The bathroom has been recently refurbished with a new suite and electric shower. There is colour TV and a washer/drier. All heating and lighting costs are included with the rent. All beds are furnished with duvets and all bedlinen and towels are supplied but please take your own towels for swimming and the beach

The garden is enclosed by a stone wall and fence - the other side of which is the sea. Unfortunately, we do not accommodate dogs and other pets.
